Dr. Alexa Herppich

Practice Owner/ Veterinarian

Dr. Alexa’s dream of owning her own animal hospital has now finally become a reality!

Dr. Alexa Herppich was born in New York; however, grew up in South Florida. Dr. Alexa received her Bachelor of Animal Science degree at University of Florida, DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and finished her clinical studies at University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine.

Her professional interests include dermatology, gastroenterology, and soft tissue surgery of dogs and cats for which she has received post-graduate training. Dr. Alexa is Fear Free certified whose mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them- thus enhancing the human-animal bond. Dr. Alexa’s outside interests include going to the beach, reading, traveling, and spending time with her 2 dogs – Liesl (Maltese/Chihuahua mix), Oliver (Chihuahua) and her 3 cats – Khaleesi, Raven, and Oskar.

Dr. Melissa Jedlicka

Veterinarian

Dr. Mel is a Buckeye at heart and grew up on the shores of Lake Erie. She became a veterinarian to connect with people and animals, and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her medical interests include wellness, pain management, and low stress vet visits for pets.

In her free time, she enjoys a slew of outdoor activities, beach days and finding local live music. She’s “mom” to a small herd of cats and is a lifelong horse-person.

Meagan

Practice Manager / Lead Technician

Born and raised in Nassau County, Florida, Meagan’s veterinary career began when she volunteered at the local Nassau animal shelter. After working as a Kennel Technician at another practice, Meagan’s interest in veterinary medicine grew and she attended an online veterinary assistant school while starting work at the Animal Hospital of Oceanway in 2007. She graduated from Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2015. Megan received specialized dental training under Dr. Ira Luskin at the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore Maryland.

Meagan likes conveying important medical information to pet owners and providing outstanding healthcare for their furry children. She enjoys surgery and dealing with hospitalized patients because of the satisfaction the procedures bring.

She lives at home with her husband Jesse and their cairn terrier Allister aka Big AL and 2 cats.

Greg

Receptionist/ Senior Veterinary Technician

Greg grew up in Fernandina Beach, where he showed horses regularly throughout his childhood. Working alongside animals has been a part of life for Greg ever since he can remember! Now, he’s able to use his skills to better the lives of the area’s pets as a member of the Animal Hospital of Oceanway team.

Greg’s veterinary career began in his hometown when he signed on at the local animal hospital in 1993. He worked his way up to the Veterinary Technician position, and has served in that capacity ever since. Greg joined the Animal Hospital of Oceanway family in early 2016 and brings with him special passions for educating pet owners on care techniques and performing thorough dental cleanings.

Greg is married and has two sons, both of whom are following in his footsteps and show ponies and pigs in the 4H organization. To this day, Greg is still passionate about showing; when he’s not showing his own animals, he’s helping his kids show theirs!

Shelby

Veterinary Technician & Receptionist

Shelby grew up in central Florida, raised by her grandparents. In her younger years she was an avid member of 4H and FFA. Shelby’s passion for animal care sparked in high school with the vet assistant program offered at her school.

At home Shelby lives with her son, her dog Aphrodite(American Bulldog) and a quartet of exotic feline companions, Buddha(Sphynx), Misty(Sphynx) Taco(Bambino) and Walter(exotic shorthair). In her free time Shelby enjoys spending time with her family and doing outdoor activities with her son and friends.

Naomi

Junior Technician

Naomi grew up on her family farm in oceanway.

Her love for animals began at age 6 when she got her first horse, Joe. From then on she knew she always wanted to work with animals. She got her first job at a horse farm in 2006 and has worked with horses ever since. She also spent time working in dog boarding and pet sitting. She has a passion for animal rescue as well.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and family of fur children- her 5 dogs- Lady, Libby, Phoenix, Mowgli and Oakley. Her 4 cats- Jewels, Louie, Miles and Ruby. And her 2 horses- Baby and Beau.

Her interests also include outdoor adventures, traveling, the beach and long trails rides.

Jessica

Junior Technician

Our technician Jessica has had a love for animals since she was a small child. As soon as she graduated high school, she began working with animals in a professional setting, and has done everything from boarding and grooming to working as a trained technician in various animal hospitals for 7 the past years. She has 13 personal pets, ranging from her three large dogs to a handful of rescued exotics.

In her spare time Jessica enjoys going on road trips, attending concerts, hiking with her dogs, and volunteering for a local wildlife rescue that she also serves on the Board of Directors for.
