Dr. Alexa Herppich

Practice Owner/ Veterinarian

Dr. Alexa’s dream of owning her own animal hospital has now finally become a reality!

Dr. Alexa Herppich was born in New York; however, grew up in South Florida. Dr. Alexa received her Bachelor of Animal Science degree at University of Florida, DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and finished her clinical studies at University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine.

Her professional interests include dermatology, gastroenterology, and soft tissue surgery of dogs and cats for which she has received post-graduate training. Dr. Alexa is Fear Free certified whose mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them- thus enhancing the human-animal bond. Dr. Alexa’s outside interests include going to the beach, reading, traveling, and spending time with her 2 dogs – Lorelei (Maltese), Oliver (Chihuahua) and her 3 cats – Khaleesi, Raven, and Oskar.

Meagan

Practice Manager

Born and raised in Nassau County, Florida, Meagan’s veterinary career began when she volunteered at the local Nassau animal shelter. After working as a Kennel Technician at another practice, Meagan’s interest in veterinary medicine grew and she attended an online veterinary assistant school while starting work at the Animal Hospital of Oceanway in 2007. She graduated from Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2015. Megan received specialized dental training under Dr. Ira Luskin at the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore Maryland.

Meagan likes conveying important medical information to pet owners and providing outstanding healthcare for their furry children. Meagan wears many hats in the hospital and wouldn’t have it any other way.

She lives at home with her husband Jesse and their cairn terrier Allister aka Big AL and Oolong a Shihtzu and her cat Shaun White.

Greg

Customer Service Representative

Greg grew up in Fernandina Beach, where he showed horses regularly throughout his childhood. Working alongside animals has been a part of life for Greg ever since he can remember! Now, he’s able to use his skills to better the lives of the area’s pets as a member of the Animal Hospital of Oceanway team.

Greg’s veterinary career began in his hometown when he signed on at the local animal hospital in 1993. He worked his way up to the Veterinary Technician position, and has served in that capacity ever since. Greg joined the Animal Hospital of Oceanway family in early 2016 and brings with him special passions for educating pet owners on care techniques and performing thorough dental cleanings.

Greg is married and has two sons, both of whom are following in his footsteps and show ponies and pigs in the 4H organization. To this day, Greg is still passionate about showing; when he’s not showing his own animals, he’s helping his kids show theirs!

Shelby

Customer Service Representative

Shelby grew up in central Florida, raised by her grandparents. In her younger years she was an avid member of 4H and FFA. Shelby’s passion for animal care sparked in high school with the vet assistant program offered at her school.

At home Shelby lives with her son, her dogs Aphrodite(American Bulldog) and Draxx ( French Bulldog) and her exotic feline companions, Taco (Bambino) and Walter(exotic shorthair). In her free time Shelby enjoys spending time with her family and doing outdoor activities with her son and friends.

Jessica

Veterinary Technician

Our technician Jessica has had a love for animals since she was a small child. As soon as she graduated high school, she began working with animals in a professional setting, and has done everything from boarding and grooming to working as a trained technician in various animal hospitals for 7 the past years. She has 13 personal pets, ranging from her three large dogs to a handful of rescued exotics.

In her spare time Jessica enjoys going on road trips, attending concerts, hiking with her dogs, and volunteering for a local wildlife rescue that she also serves on the Board of Directors for.

Naomi

Lead Veterinary Technician

Naomi grew up on her family farm in oceanway.

Her love for animals began at age 6 when she got her first horse, Joe. From then on she knew she always wanted to work with animals. She got her first job at a horse farm in 2006 and has worked with horses ever since. She also spent time working in dog boarding and pet sitting. She has a passion for animal rescue as well.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and family of fur children- her 6 dogs- Lady, Libby, Phoenix, Mowgli, Baloo and Oakley. Her 3 cats- Jewels, Miles and Ruby. Her 2 horses- Baby and Beau. And her 2 miniature donkeys Sophie and Eeyore.

Her interests also include outdoor adventures, traveling, the beach and long trails rides.

Halie

Customer Service Representative

Born and raised In Jacksonville, FL, Halie has had a passion for animals since she was very young. She was the type of child to bring home any animal she found off the street. Halie started working with animals straight out of high-school and has continued to work with them since. She first started working at a boarding facility and has transitioned over to working with animals in a veterinary setting. She is the proud owner of a total of 9 pets (most of them foster failures); five cats, two dogs, one snake, and one hedgehog.

In her spare time, Halie really enjoys snuggling up on the couch watching her favorite shows and movies with her fur babies!

Hannah

Customer Service Representative

Hannah recently moved to Florida from Washington state.
Hannah joined our team at Oceanway as a customer service representative in 2023.

Hannah has worked with animals most of her life in many aspects including animal training, independent retail pet care, and of course veterinary medicine.

Originally from Arizona, Hannah has made her home here in Florida with her boyfriend Matthew, and their animals – Indie (Domestic Shorthair), Honey Bunches of Oats (Domestic Longhair), Sushi (Ragdoll) and her Belgian Malinois, Jack.

Outside of the office Hannah enjoys video games, AKC conformation, and dog sports.

Erin

Veterinary Technician

Started November of 2023.
Erin has been in the veterinary field for 6 years.
Erin has always been passionate about animals and their welfare. Erins says that becoming a veterinary technician allowed her to contribute to improving pet health and their quality of life. The most rewarding aspect of working in veterinary medicine for Erin is witnessing the positive impact of our work on both the animals and their owners.

Erin started working in animal rescue and shelters when she was 18, in college and fell in love with helping the animals, from recovering them, fostering, adopting out, and helping the community.Erin grew up in South Carolina and moved to Florida 4 years ago where she continued her animal health care path. Erin has 3 siblings, including a twin sister.

Erin lives at home with her pets : Mo, her first cat, raised as a bottle baby when his mother rejected the litter. Foster failure, very protective guard cat. Windsor, her shelter rescue cat, has one brain cell and big buggy eyes, loves the laser pointer. Gixxie, cat, named after the GSXR motorcycle, because she has the fastest zoomies. Rescued from outside a club in Jacksonville.

Kapono, a Cockapoo dog, loves agility and learning new tricks. Tooties, orange cat- activities include learning how to use the doggy door to the porch and never leaving and becoming best friends with the dog. Erin’s hobbies include riding her motorcycle everywhere, playing video games, hanging out with friends and her animals, and beating every game at Dave N Busters.

Rachel

Veterinary Technician

Rachel has worked with animals since she was little. She started in 4-H and FFA where she raised chickens, cattle and a horse on a little farm where she lived. She has now been in veterinary medicine for over 6 years. Rachel started at Animal Hospital of Oceanway in 2022 as a veterinary technician and has brought a tender healing touch and a world of knowledge along with her!

Rachel graduated high school while also earning her veterinary assistant certification through the State of Florida. Rachel is now currently in her final year of the veterinary technology program through Penn Foster and will soon become a licensed veterinary technician through the state and nationally!

Rachel lives at home with her husband, their two heelers Sawyer and River and 4 cats, JJ, Gatsby, OJ and Zuko. When Rachel isn’t working hard at Animal Hospital of Oceanway, you’ll find her in her craft room crafting!
